Our Hawaii team specialize in shooting Maui babymoons as well as couples, surprise proposals and family beach photography sessions.
We began photographing babymoons in Wailea, Maui, in 2014. Since then, we have photographed hundreds of expecting moms and parents eager to start their family’s next chapter with beautiful beach maternity portraits. For those of you in the midst of planning Maui maternity sessions, we’ve created a helpful guide to see you on your way. Let’s dive in!
Planning your Maui getaway
Maui, with its gorgeous landscapes and serene beaches, is the perfect destination for a maternity getaway. As you embark on this special journey, it’s essential to plan your trip to ensure a stress-free, fun experience.
Start by figuring out the best time to visit Maui during your pregnancy. The second trimester, between weeks 14 and 28, is generally considered the most comfortable to travel. Our team photograph moms-to-be anywhere from 8-40 weeks. Consult with your doctor to ensure that you are fit for travel and to address any specific concerns.
Next, consider the length of your stay on Maui. A week-long trip allows for ample time to explore the island and indulge in relaxation, but even a shorter getaway can be rejuvenating. Decide whether you want to stay in one location or explore different areas of Maui, and plan your Maui babymoons itinerary accordingly. Our photography team is based in Wailea, and services South Maui (Kihei, Wailea) as well as West Maui (Kapalua Bay).
When it comes to accommodations, Maui offers a range of options to suit various preferences and budgets. From luxury resorts to cozy beachfront cottages, you’ll find the perfect place to unwind and create lasting memories. Consider booking a babymoon package that includes special amenities designed for expectant parents, such as prenatal massages or a private beach cabana.
Remember to pack comfortable clothing, swimwear, and any necessary pregnancy essentials. Don’t forget a nausea remedy for the Road to Hana (affiliate link). Maui’s warm climate calls for light and breathable fabrics, and don’t forget to bring a hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent for added protection.
With your plans in place and your bags packed, it’s time to dive into the best that Maui has to offer during your babymoon.
Maui babymoon beaches that boast relaxation and tranquility
Maui hosts idyllic beaches, pristine white sands and turquoise waters. Whether you’re seeking solitude or a serene spot to bond with your partner and babe-to-be, these beaches offer the perfect backdrop for relaxation and tranquility.
Ka’anapali Beach is a popular choice for babymooners, thanks to its picture-perfect beauty and calm waters. Located on Maui’s West Coast, this beach boasts three miles of golden sand and stunning views of the neighboring islands. Take leisurely walks along the shore, soak up the sun, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. While we are not commercially permitted to shoot at Ka’anapali Beach. Kapalua Bay is a wonderful alternative for your Maui photography experience.
If you’re looking for a beach with a touch of luxury, Wailea Beach is the perfect choice. Situated in the upscale Wailea resort area, this beach offers pristine sands, beautiful waters, and breathtaking views. Remember to always ask your hotel concierge or local resident for advice on conditions. Even ocean conditions that appear calm can carry dangerous rip currents and an unexpected shorebreaks. If you’re not familiar with ocean safety, stick to the sand. Don’t forget to keep your belongings well above the high tide mark!
No matter which beach you choose, remember to stay hydrated. Wear reef-friendly sunscreen and listen to your body’s cues for rest and relaxation. Take breaks in the shade, stay cool in the water. Enjoy the beauty of Maui’s beaches at your own pace!
