We can usually tell the afternoon light is going to be unreal by the style of clouds that pop up in the sky during the day. We look at each other and say, our couple that night is going to be stoked! When a sky lights up, it can really go off, making for some romantic sunset silhouettes and warm, vibrant light.

If you’re staying in west Maui, the drive to south Maui where we shoot can be a bit tedious if there’s afternoon traffic. We always suggest our sunset portrait clients take the afternoon to travel slowly down to Wailea, enjoy some beaches in the area or even grab happy hour drinks and nibbles beforehand so no one is hangry!
